WSU @ RSA 2008
Several members of the WSU Rhetoric/Composition program will be presenting talks at the 13th Annual Rhetoric Society of America Biennial Conference (May 23-26 in Seattle, WA):
- On May 23 PhD candidate Jill Morris will present a talk entitled “Voice of the Hegemon: Online Rhetoric, Power, and the Rhetoric Classroom” as part of the panel “Reflections on Pedagogy”
- On May 25 three of our PhD candidates will be part of the panel “E!thos, E-thos, and (Eco)thos: New (Media) Varieties of Ethical Argument.” Kimberly Lacey will present a talk entitled “Linking Up: Bloggrolling into Online Celebrity Status,” Jared Grogan will present a talk entitled “Celebrity Environmentalism: Ethos/Ethic, Intent/Affect,” and Michael McGinnis will present a talk entitled “‘Contrived Image and Staged Virtue’: Celebrity, Discursive Presence, and the Mediation of Ethos”
- On May 25 Professor Jeff Pruchnic will present a talk entitled “Commodifying Ethics” as part of the panel “Rhetorics of Ethics and the Ethics of Rhetoric in Science, Economics, and Critical Theory”
