Please join us this Friday for a special guest workshop facilitated by John Swales, University of Michigan Professor Emeritus of Linguistics. This workshop will take place from 3 – 4 PM, February 26, in room #10302 and will focus on teaching in a genre-based pedagogy.
John Swales is the author or co-author of fifteen books and around 120 articles or chapters. He is one of the most influential scholars of genre analysis and its applications in rhetoric, discourse analysis, and pedagogy. Several of his concepts and models are key to our composition course curricula, notably his work on discourse communities and the conventions of research writing.
A reminder: all Graduate Teaching Assistants are required to attend at least three workshops this semester and all Part-Time Faculty Members are required to attend at least one workshop this semester.
